1

Left formation zone 2 inbound from loss of nose compartment heat and landed with minor damage. No casualties. Claims: One Me-109 each by 2nd Lt. Carrierre & Sgt. Legge.

Returned 2 casualties with #1 engine out, no brakes, navigation equipment destroyed, bombardier heater out, and numerous other hits to the fuselage, tail, both wings, pilot's compartment, nose, looking like 'Swiss Cheese' with 26 holes.  Two Me-109s claimed by Sgt. Legge and one Fw-190 claimed by SSgt. Garbutt.

Returned with top turret and bomb release inoperable, 10 other minor superficial damage hits and 3 casualties.  Claims: 1 Fw-190 by Sgt. Legge.  Replacement: 2nd Lt. Gilmore.

Returned with no damage or casualties.

Ditched in Adriatic after running out of fuel.. Lost #3 and #4 engines, starboard outboard fuel tank leak, oxygen system instrument failure, two wing root hits . . . 26 hits in total. Crew rescued, 1 casualty.  Claims: 2 Me-109s by SSgt. Garbutt, 1 Me-109 by Sgt. Desnoyers, 1 Fw-190 by Sgt. Legge.
