 New crew assignment.  Fell out-of-formation half way home after hitting target due to lost of heat in nose compartment.  Returned with ball turret Guns inoperable, 2 P. wing root hits, 1 S. wing root hit, 1 tail plane hit, 2 rudder hits, numerous superficial hits to the nose, radio room, waist, tail.  4 Casualties.  Claims: 1 Fw-190 & 1 Me-109 by SSgt. Foster, 1 Fw-190 by Sgt. Peterson.  Replacements: Sgts. McGann, Zimmer & Malone.   Temporary replacement: Sgt. Wagner.

 Dropped out of formation due to fuel tank fire halfway back to home base.  Returned alone with the starboard wing inboard tank holed, #3 engine useless, the rudder 67% damaged, pilots' control cables damaged, and superficial hits to the nose compartment and fuselage, and 1 casualty.

 Sgt. Roberts returns to crew.  Fell out-of-formation zone 2 outbound, aborted zone 3 outbound and returned to base.  Landed with #1 & #4 engines out, radio room heater out and oxygen out, tail wheel damaged and numerous superficial hits to rest of plane.  3 casualties.  Claims: 1 Me-109 apiece by Lt. O'Donnell, SSgt. Foster, Sgts. Roberts & Malone.  Replacements: Lt. Johnson and TSgt. Masters.

 Returned with top turret guns, port elevator, bomb release mechanism and bomb controls inoperable, plus numerous superficial holes to both wings.  1 casualty.  2 ME-110s by Sgt. McNichol and 1 FW-190 by 2nd Lt. O'Donnell (One of Sgt. McNichol's claims is later confirmed by S-2). Temporary replacement: MSgt. Simeon.

 Returned with waist and tail oxygen systems out; rafts destroyed; navigator's equipment inop.; tail wheel damaged; port wing & starboard wing root damaged (2 port, 1 starboard); 2/3 of the rudder shot away; control cables damaged and numerous other superficial holes all over the aircraft   4 casualties.  Claims: 1 ME-109 apiece by Lt. O'Donnell, MSgt. Simeon, TSgt. Spiers & Sgt. Malone. Replacement: TSgt. Spirrell.  Temp. Replacement: SSgt. Jankowski.

Reached target but bombs jettisoned before bomb run.  Returned out-of-formation on two engines, top and ball turrets inoperable, port wing aileron, flaps and elevator inoperable, nose and tail compartment heating system inoperable, damaged rudder, one wing tank holed, and 3 casualties.  Claims: 1 ME-109 & 1 ME-110 by Sgt. Endleman, 2 ME-109s by SSgt. Foster and 1 ME-109 by Sgt. McNichol.  Replacements: 2nd Lts. Franchetti & Gilmore and Sgt. Toye.
17 Crew flew Florence mission on A/C 42-11830.  Returned with minor tail plane damage and no casualties.  Claims: 1 FW-190 by SSgt. Foster.
18 Crew flew Centocelle mission on A/C 42-11830.  Returned without damage or casualties.

20 Returned with the inboard s/board fuel tank, control cables, radio room oxygen system damaged and superficial holes in the pilots' compartment. 3 casualties. Claims: 1 ME-109 & 1 FW-190 by SSgt. Foster (ME-109 later confirmed by S-2).  Temporary replacements: 2nd Lt. Bennett & Sgt. Bird.

23 Returned with port waist gunner suit heater inoperable, minor superficial damage to the fuselage and 1 case of frostbite.  Claims: 1 FW-190 by SSgt. Foster.
