HIGHLIGHTS:
- 8 new aces were created but 1 of the new
aces was lost in the same mission of his fifth kill. Also, 7 returning aces from other events were lost.
- First timer John Baker (AZ) had the top
pilot for the weekend. His Japanese Naval George pilot, Yamo Ito,
achieved 8-kills in only two missions with 7 medium bombers. His
second mission was a record setting 5-kills in a 6-turn mission, shooting
down all 4 B-25Js on turns 2-to-5 and a P-47D escort on turn 6. Ito
also became the third became to achieve the Bomber-killer
ace ability in the Down in Flames Aces' Campaigns and the first
Japanese player to achieve this ability.
- Lucky Chris Lefevre (AZ) pulled of the
perfect killer hand of the "Exploding Fuel Tank" backed up by an "Ace" TWICE
by his WINGMEN in the 1944 Pacific campaign, once as the Americans and once
as the Japanese.
- Five players won the "I Made An Ace Pilot
AT GMT" t-shirt: John Baker, Rachel Billingsley (CA), Mike Lam (CA), Kevin
Lefevre (AZ), & Mark Yoshikawa (CA).
SPECIAL BOMBER MISSION:
No special bomber
mission was run this weekend.
TEAM
DOUBLES TOURNAMENT:
There was no 2-player
tournament this weekend. The Tournament will return in October with the
defending champions Nick Markevich & Charles Ryder as the top-seed to defend
their crown.
COMING THIS
OCTOBER:
The 1941 Western Front, the 1941 North Africa, the
1943 East Front, the 1943 West Front campaigns will be offered. This is a
possibility the 1944 Pacific campaign will take rest. There will be the
2-player team tournament. And the a special
bomber mission is TBD at this time.
I hope all who participated had fun and a good time and I plan to continue the
aerial mayhem at next October's GMT-West Weekend, scheduled sometime for
mid-October 2008
in Hanford.
